Emmanuel Yaw Owusu, a security man, who threatened to kill four pastors and their families and the church members if they failed to pay
GH¢5,000.00 each has been convicted by a Circuit Court.
The court, convicted Owusu on his own
plea, to a total fine of GH¢480.00 on four counts of threat of death, in
default serve four months jail term.
It further ordered Owusu 31, to sign a
bound to be of good behaviour for 24 months in default serve six months jail
term.
The Police, also retrieved the said
diary which contained the names of the pastors and produced it in court.
The court, at its earlier sitting
ordered the police to retrieve a 2014 and 2015 church diary that Owusu claimed
contained the telephone numbers, which he used to commit the act.
He said he saw the pastors’ names and
telephone numbers as being members of the Ghana Pentecostal Council.
On April 7, this year the court
presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku convicted Owusu after pleading
guilty to the charges.
Before the court handed down its
sentence, Owusu, for the second time pleaded with the court and victims to
forgive him adding, what he did was wrong.
When the court asked Owusu whether he
had a wife and children, he said no, however he had impregnated a lady.
Owusu said, he earned GH¢200.00 each
from two different firms.
Owusu is said to have threatened the
pastors with messages like “we are robbers, we demand GH¢5,000.00 from you and
your church or we will eliminate you and your family as well as 5,000 members
of your church. Send it or action”.
The pastors, who were in court, were
the Reverend Dr Nana Anyani Boadum, Founder and General Overseer of Jesus Generation Ministries; Rev and Dr Prince Baah, of Calvary Crusaders Miniseries International.
The others were Bishop Samuel Noi
Mensah, Presiding Bishop of Full Gospel Church International; and Rev
Christopher Marfo Ahenkorah, General Overseer Foursquare Gospel Church.
