Power cut to some parts of Ashanti Region due to explosion

There is blackout in some parts of the Ashanti regional capitalKumasi following the explosion of an earth reactor of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
The explosion, according to Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor occured at the company's bulk supply point around 5 pm Thursday.
He indicated that a thick smoke, followed by fire, started to emanate from the power station minutes after the explosion.
The cause of the fire, Erastus is still unknown but he said personnel of the fire service were at the scene and managed to douse the fire
The Public Relations Manager of ECG, Ashanti Region, Erasmus Kyere Baidoo in an interview said the explosion instantly caused some defects in the 11 KV panels, resulting in power cut to some parts of the  Ashanti Region.
He noted that the cause of the explosion was yet to be investigated, adding that no deaths or injuries were recorded.

Kyere Baidoo said residents in the affected areas will have to sleep in the dark as they work around the clock to restore the power.
