Police swoop at a popular ghetto in Ashaiman to seize 75 pieces of toffees suspected to have been laced with weed

A police swoop at a popular ghetto in Ashaiman, Asenso Bar, on Thursday evening led to the seizure of 75 pieces of toffees suspected to have been laced with weed.
The candies which are brown in colour and round were packaged in transparent polythenes.
About 241 wrappers of substances suspected to be Indian hemp in a polythene bag were also recovered.
An alleged notorious drug peddler, Ali Zakari, aged 39, who was said to be selling the siezed items, has also been arrested. Two alleged smokers, Emmanuel Ekuadzi, 27 and Abraham Sackey, 23 were also arrested at the ghetto.
Several mobile phones were also found on Ekuadzi and Sackey.
Others however managed to escape following an alarm raised by one of the members of the ghetto about the presence of the police in the area.
Ashaiman District Police commander, DSP Seth Tay said investigation is ongoing and the suspects will be processed for court.

Some residents of Asahiman also expressed shock at the incident and pleaded with the police to help jail the arrested suspects since their activities put children in danger.
