Father of a 5-year-old girl vows to kill nurses to avenge child's death

A frustrated father has threatened to kill authorities at the Amasaman Government Hospital in the Greater Accra region of Ghana, after losing his 5-year-old daughter.
According to the father, the girl died after hospital authorities allegedly refused to attend to her on time to save her life.
The five-year-old child was rushed to the hospital after a severe fever on Saturday.
But devastated father told Adom News nurses at the hospital refused to attend to them because he had no money on him.
“I am devastated at the system in this country. I am not exactly proud of this country’s health system; that an innocent child died because his father did not have money for blood".
“What happened to the NHIS? Does it not include free health care for children under 16? What training are these medical practitioners getting that they allow a kid to die because his father can’t afford blood for him?
The father claims he is an Ewe and will kill anyone who had a hand in the child’s death.
But the Medical Superintendent of Ga-West Municipality, Dr. Jabeth Abela said doctors tried their best to save the girl.
He indicated that on Saturday the child was admitted and diagnosed with complicated Malaria and Severe Anaemia, with a low blood level.
So, the parents were asked to go for blood from Nsawam Hospital for a blood transfusion at 5:00am on Sunday, since the hospital did not have the blood type of the child.
Dr. Abela noted that the parents initially refused the blood transfusion when it was recommended to them on Sunday morning.
But they later agreed to it and went to get the blood, but the child died at 11:00 am on Sunday.

The Medical Superintendent added that they have begun investigations to bring closure to the matter.
