Bookman sentenced 11 years in prison for selling wee

A bookman at a lorry station at Atonso near Bekwai in the Ashanti region has been sentenced to 11 years imprisonment for selling marijuana known in local parlance as wee.
According to reports, the suspect, Kwame Afriyie was caught red handed selling the drugs at the lorry station by the police and arraigned before the Bekwai Circuit court.
The reporter said, prosecutor, Detective Inspector Stephen Ofori told the court, the suspect had 199 kilograms of wee on him upon arrest but claimed it was for a friend.
But Kwame Afriyie, the prosecutor said could not provide the name or location of the said friend who gave him the marijuana.
However, further investigations revealed that the wee was indeed for Kwame Afriyie.
So, for deceiving the police and the court and engaging in illegal trade, the presiding judge, Frederick Nawura sentenced him to 11 years in prison with hard labour.
