Hundreds of mourners
from across the country gathered at the National Police Training School in
Accra on Saturday, for the final funeral rites of the late Eastern Regional Police commander, DCOP Angwubutoge Awuni.
The service was
witnessed by officers from across Ghana, government representatives including
the Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Frimpong, among others who joined the
Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor to celebrate a life well lived.
Speaking to Citi
News, the Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Police Service, Supt. Cephas
Arthur described the late Commander as an inspiration to many others.
“My boss was somebody
I took inspiration from and who was always on hand to give me pep talks, to
correct me and to commend me. As he leaves, am going to be the loser for it.
Other colleagues also
present at the service described the late DCOP Angwubutoge Awuni as not only an
outspoken person but someone who is principled and fair. The late Police Commander
was loved by many outside the police service for his hard-work and firmness.
