South Korea and United States perform military exercises

United States and South Korean troops have carried out a large-scale amphibious landing exercise, with heightened tension along the Korean Peninsula.

The display is a part of eight-weeks of joint military exercises between the two countries.

It comes as a North Korean submarine is believed to have gone missing after suffering a failure while training.

Pyongyang has issued blistering attack and said it is prepared to counter the U.S. and South Korean forces.
