See how happy they are |
Pupils of
Kperisi M.A School in the Upper West region have been provided with desks after
year of sitting on the floor to learn.
Earlier, the
headmistress of the School, Rosina Diedong, was excited and explained that all
she sought to do was to appeal to people to come to their aid and not to taint
the reputation of government officials as alleged.
Rosina was reported to have received calls from the MunicipalDirector of Education demanding she apologized for bringing journalists to
report on the school.
She says she is happy News carried the story and secured
urgent help to address the needs of the pupils.
Since the
report was done last week Friday, many individuals and institutions,
including the Vice-Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr.
Mahamudu Bawumia, have visited the school pledging their support.
However, the Wa Municipal Assembly seeking to do what it
was supposed to have done, and wanting to protect its reputation went
ahead to provide 200 desks for the school.
The pupils
of Kperisi M.A School for about a year have had to sit on the floor to listen
to their teachers teach, and lie prostrate on the floor when they are given
class exercise to do.
The pupils had developed waist pains and others catching cold.
They also went home dirty every day. The classrooms are also poorly ventilated.
The uniforms of some of the students are also tattered.
These have been the situation of pupils of the school for close to
a year now.
