Marcus Rashford described
his Manchester United Premier League debut
as an 'amazing' experience after he struck twice against Arsenal.
Teenage
striker Rashford scored two goals in three first-half minutes to put United
ahead of Arsenal and assisted Ander Herrera’s second-half winner in the 3-2
victory.
The
18-year-old, who scored two on his debut against Midtjylland on Thursday, gave
his first televised interview to Sky Sports after the game and could not
conceal his delight at the end of a wonderful week.
"This
is my first game in the Premier League, so obviously it's been amazing and to
score two is just a bonus," he said.
"Hopefully
we can just carry it on and we go again next game."
The
Sports reporter Geoff Shreeves told Rashford he scored his first league goal
with his first shot, to which the Wythenshawe lad replied: "Yeah, same as
Europa," with a grin the size of Manchester Canal.
"It
was a shock playing midweek because Martial was meant to be starting and then
coming in but that kind of benefited me because I wasn't thinking about the
game too much. It's been good."
"It's
just crazy but having the likes of Michael around in the team as well helps,
with their experience, so we can only go forward. It's crazy, you can't really
explain it when you're out there. It's just a rush of blood, everything."
MichaelCarrick captained United to their gutsy win over Arsene Wenger's side and praised
Louis van Gaal's willingness to give youth a chance.
Carrick said: "It's just a real breath of fresh air.
"Football's
a great game and when you see young lads coming through for me it brings back
memories of not quite scoring like he's done but when you start out in your
career, you get your chance and you want to take it.
"I
think it's a big boost for the whole club. It's a good feeling now and
hopefully with more to come."
Carrick
handed the Rashford the man of the match award and told him: "Keep on scoring."
