One
soldier has been shot dead by gunmen at Bole in the Northern region
of Ghana. Two others and a fire service person have sustained gunshot wounds.
The security personnel, whose identities are yet to be confirmed,
were part of the Bole District Security Council team enroute to a galamsey site
at Dolla Power, a border town in Ivory Coast.
The team
consisted of the District Chief Executive, a Police Commander in the area and a
Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service also from Bole.
The soldier died during an exchange of gunshots with the
unknown armed men.
The Fire Service Commander and two other soldiers were also
hit by bullets fired by the gun men.
It is not clear yet the motive for the attack. No arrest has been
made.
The deceased has been sent to the Bole GovernmentHospital mortuary whilst the injured persons are currently receiving treatment.
