Liverpool have blocked Jerome Sinclair’s move to Watford -
even though it will leave them out of pocket in the summer.
Sinclair is out of contract at the
end of the season and Watford has been desperate to sign the 19-year-old
forward.
But Sinclair could move to Spain this
summer - with Espanyol keen to sign him - and that would mean Liverpool only
get a small compensation fee.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp brought
Sinclair on as a late substitute against West Ham on Saturday.
But Sinclair did not want to play for
Liverpool’s under-21s today in their win over Reading for fear of getting
injured ahead of a potential deadline day move.
Liverpool has been demanding £3m for
Sinclair even though contract talks with the England youth international have
broken down.
It leaves Liverpool standing to lose
out financially with the fear that Sinclair could go abroad and then later come
back to English football and haunt them in the future.
